younique

As a die hard Clinique fan I’m curious to see what the difference is and it seems like the answer is – quite a lot!

“I’m used to wearing it so my fab lashes seem normal now. But look at the difference here. Clinique vs Younique! POW!” says Paula and who am I to argue.

Might just have to give this go when I’m next buying mascara. Thanks Paula!

Guest Recommendation – BH Cosmetics

Today’s Guest Recommendation comes from Lizzie who is the face behind the words at All Made Up .

BH Cosmetics 120 colour eyeshadow palette:BH Cos Eye palette

BH Cosmetics is a brand that I’ve never come across before but the good news is that is does international shipping!  According to Lizzie it’s the 120 colour eyeshadow palette, second edition, that we should check out, “the pigmentation is amazing. Good amount of shimmers, mattes, and glitters.  Really creamy on the skin too!” (more…)

Guest Recommendation – Smashbox Primer

smashboxToday’s guest recommendation comes from the beautiful Ms Justine Hider  …. When I asked Justine what her ‘must have’ products are she told me that “I always use smash box primer you need a tiny bit and it makes your make up last all day!” Thanks Justine x.

Smashbox Primer has become a bit of a cult product, winning awards here there and everywhere. Here’s the official line it:

“Description:

Create a perfect canvas for foundation application with this silky, lightweight blend of vitamins A and E, grape seed extract and green tea. Worn alone or under foundation to increase longevity, our best-selling primer helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores for flawless skin with a velvety-smooth finish. Oil-free!

Winner of Best of Sephora Award for Best Primer, one of Marie Claire’s “25 Products That Will Change Your Life,” an InStyle Best Beauty Buy, Handbag.com Readers Choice Beauty Award 2012 for ‘Best Foundation Primer’ and U Magazine Beauty Award Winner 2012 for ‘Best Primer’.

Tips:

Apply a pea-size amount of PHOTO FINISH FOUNDATION PRIMER to clean or moisturised skin, using fingertips, for complexion perfection. Follow with your favourite foundation (try LIQUID HALO HD FOUNDATION SPF 15). To tame frizzies, try smoothing primer through wet or dry hair.”

Clarins – Beauty Flash Balm

This works miracles! No really it does. It doesn’t matter how hungover I am, how bereft of sleep, how sallow my skin looks. Two minutes after applying this the world looks a better place.

It instantly tightens any pores, moisturises and brightens my complexion. My skin feels nice ‘n’ silky smooth with only the tiniest of amounts. Quite literally a miracle worker some mornings!

It makes my skin look a lot more radiant so I don’t feel the need to wear any foundation on top of it, but that’s just me. If you do want to you’re supposed to apply it immediately afterwards.

One thing to remember is not to rub or massage it in, just smooth a very thin layer onto your skin and let it do its thing. Or, alternatively, you can leave a thicker layer on for a mask….

Don’t use this everyday, just when you need to, otherwise it will lose it’s magic. Which is just as well as it’s not cheap!

OK, so that’s my humble opinion. Here’s the official line on it from Clarins:

“Skin Type: Normal, Dry, Combination, Oily
Texture: Cream

The ultimate pick-me-up for tired, stressed skin—Clarins best-selling radiance booster helps eliminate signs of fatigue in a flash! Instantly moisturises, brightens and tightens facial contours so skin looks rested and relaxed. Olive and Witch Hazel extracts help smooth the skin’s surface, diffusing the look of lines and wrinkles. Soothing Bisabolol helps restore skin’s youthful glow. Preps skin for perfect make-up application and hours of luminous wear.
